Is makeup good for skin?
Makeup does not damage skin if the ingredients are of good quality, and some ingredients like antioxidants and minerals are good for the skin. But makeup should not stay on for many hours and daily application should be avoided.
The ingredients used for the makeup should be safe for skin, and should be according to the type of skin. Look for non-comedogenic (does not cause pimples by blocking pores) and hypoallergenic (does not cause allergic reactions) mentioned on the product’s description.
Do not wear makeup for many hours if the skin is oily or a combination skin. A very light makeup suits best for this skin and if the oil build up starts, the face should be washed with a face wash liquid, cleansed with a low-oil cleansing cream and pores closed with a toner. The makeup can be again applied quickly.
If the face becomes dry after washing and cleansing routine, an emollient or a very light moisturizer should be applied to oily skin followed by makeup.
A moisturizer should not make the face sticky to collect dust particles from the environment or make the makeup sticky. Your skin should appear as good as “just washed” after applying the moisturizer.
Also look for mineral makeup which offers safer components and better skin care.
