Dear Harmeet, Thanks for sharing your views! These days adulterated honey is commonplace in the market.
Here is some more information on honey that we buy from market and feed to kids. I recommend this article as a must read to all who are interested in this post - http://www.hindu.com/2010/09/16/stories/201009166...
Also to test if the honey is pure, see these links : http://www.wikihow.com/Verify-the-Purity-of-Honey http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/pure-honey.html
Is honey safe for my baby?
Honey is not safe for babies below 1 year of age. Honey is known to contain Clostridium botulinum, an organism known to cause illness (infant botulism) and can even cause death.
Infant botulism is a condition in which the toxins released in the intestines due to presence of Clostridium botulinum can affect the nervous system, making the baby weak in suckling and also causing muscle weakness, poor body control, constipation and tiredness.
It is advised not to give undercooked food to the baby. Baby food should be cooked completely and hygienically.
