Is honey safe for my baby?

Baby Food

Honey is not safe for babies below 1 year of age. Honey is known to contain Clostridium botulinum, an organism known to cause illness (infant botulism) and can even cause death.

Infant botulism is a condition in which the toxins released in the intestines due to presence of Clostridium botulinum can affect the nervous system, making the baby weak in suckling and also causing muscle weakness, poor body control, constipation and tiredness.

It is advised not to give undercooked food to the baby. Baby food should be cooked completely and hygienically.

I always wanted to do something different, but was never sure about it until I became a mother. My life’s journey and the lessons learnt from it have inspired me to begin with Smartmomz. I have grown as a person, as a woman and as a mother with Smartmomz. I want it to be a platform to connect all moms together, from different cultures, beliefs, backgrounds and from different parts of the world, bringing moms together to speak up, connect, learn and share.

I don't know about this report, but for my child I have given her honey esp during constipation under doctor's advise.
Cheers
