Inspiring Moms – Interview with Vinita Ananth
Moms inspire because they never give up hope. They inspire because they don’t think when it comes to responsibility, and just go ahead and do it.
Vinita Ananth is a working mom and is currently the Founder and CEO at CEO Council of India which is India’s fastest growing non-startup CEO community. She has two children of her own and has also adopted twin sisters recently and now she’s a mom of four! One of the frequent questions asked to the parents was – why did you adopt two more when you already had your own kids? In this video she talks about her role as a mom and clears some common misconceptions about child adoption.
Some Startling Facts:
“India has more orphans than any other nation, totaling 35,000,000 in 2003; nearly 1 out of 10 of India’s children are orphans.” – As quoted by Children of the world website.
“About 20 million children, about 4% of their population in India and higher than people living in Delhi, are orphan. Of them, parents of only 0.3% children have died and rest have been abandoned.” - As per an article in Hindustan Times.
“Of the 11 million abandoned children, 90% are girls. All of them have little hope of finding a home, for only 2,518 were adopted in 2009.” – As quoted in the Times of India article.
Only a few thousand children are adopted in a year in India and the number is extremely low compared to the number of orphaned children in India.
Why we adopted two more kids- A personal note by Mukund Mohan,Vinita’s husband and a proud father of four! Wishing you a great father’s day (17th June 2012)!
Dear Vinita, Congratulations from the Smartmomz team and best wishes for your journey as a mom! Thank you so much for sharing your valuable thoughts with us!
